It Works!

Easton goes to bed around 7:30 every night. Around 8pm, he hollers down the stairs, “Mom, I am scary [scared].”

I told him to say a prayer and ask Heavenly Father to help him not be scared. He said, “Okay Mom, good night. Love you.”

A good ten minutes passed quietly, and then we hear him holler down, “Mom, it didn’t work.”

Knowing, stifled giggles pass between Ryan and me as I call up, “Just keep saying a prayer and ask Heavenly Father to help you be brave.”

“Okay Mom, good night. Love you.”

Forty minutes later, he hollers down, "Mom, maybe p'ayer works." I had to clarify, "You said your prayer worked?"

"Yup. It works!" And we say our good nights all over again hollering back and forth.

This kid keeps amazing us! Of course, we keep waiting for some terrible showing of will, but he's given us next to no resistance going to bed in 3 1/2 years. Sorry, it's true. He regularly sings himself to sleep (currently going stong for almost almost an hour now), loves asking every question under the sun during bedtime stories, and prefers to have as many lights on as possible. I LOVE THIS SWEET BOY! I am eating up all these moments while they last!
